Kantaji temple as of seen on Januaray 1, 2016

First of I would you like to thank John Henry Ravenshaw who took these pictures in and around 1871 and the source of the pictures: British Library where i found the archives in 2009. We are very proud of that our beloved temple was photographed for almost 150 years from now.

Image of the Kantaji Temple at Kantanagar in Kaharole PS, taken from the south, by John Henry Ravenshaw by a British serviceman in 1871. Maharaja Pran Nath of Dinajpur built the temple in 1752 and it is one of the most widely elaborate and decorate late medieval brick temples of Bangladesh. The temple stands on a sandstone plinth and has the curved cornice typical of buildings in this area. It had three tiers originally topped by a magnificent tower. There were extra little towers at the four corners of both the lower levels. All nine towers were later demolished during 1897 great Assam earthquake, while the body of the temple was in good shape and still survives today. The inner sanctuary has three passageways and is encompassed by a verandah that has three curved openings on every face. The exterior is adorned with thousands of terracotta plaques of varied floral and figurative motifs.

Triple-arched entrance of the Kantaji Temple at Kantanagar, with richly-carved surrounds, taken by John Henry Ravenshaw in c.1871. The series of views of the temple is described by Ravenshaw as follows: ”The eight views of Kantonugger represent different features of a Hindoo temple to Kanti (Vishnu), commenced in 1704 by Rajah Prannath (Martin’s India, page 628). It is in perfect preservation: the ruin prognosticated by Dr Buchanan has not come to pass. It is still kept up by the Rajbaree; and the image, said to have been brought from the Jumna, is still kept in the temple. The building itself is profusely ornamented with sculptures representing the various legends of Hindoo mythology. These sculptures are not mouldings in brick, such as are so common in Gour, but are all chiselled out from the bricks after erection. The bricks themselves are very hard, as may be supposed from the 150 years these sculptures have been remaining in preservation.’

We went to KFC uttara after the kids played football at Uttara sector #12 Park a few days ago. KFC is located at Sector 11 Intersection(Locally its called 11 no. Chowrastha) on the left of Sonargaon Janpath Road. One thing i must say that surrounding area is heavily commercialize in a couple of years and would be to no doubt, but i don’t know whether the area across 11 no intersection is an approved ! commerce place.

Kids love #KFC. The food and the play-zone have no question. f Chicken is much better than other FCs across uttara. Playzone is a bit narrow but clean.

Diyabari Photos in Uttara

January 31, 2016
flower in diyabari, Uttara

Diyabari in new uttara is getting famous for a short trip for you and your family. If you have a car  and stay around Uttara then this is now common for people who love to drive during the weekend. Though the place is for driving or for learning at least as the newly built are without traffic most the time. When you come from Dhaka, the entry point at Airport circle would be very awful as the traffic will cost you 0.20-1 hour staying without any movement if you are unlucky.  Another odd point is at Khalpaar where sector-12 is ended. The Sonargaon Janpaath Avenue at Khalpaar is now totally smashed out  and your driver should be careful and to move slowly whilst crossing the bridge. But when you get in the new sectors you would feel amazing experience. During the monsoon whilst in raining Kaash forests over there are awesome to see. I didn’t see when i got there last month though.

Mahbub Murshed

I have passion in Picture taking and wanted to explore new things around me and get it snapped :)

OK, on last Friday i was accompanied with my wife and little daughther went to a Picnic in Gazipur along with her friends. It wasn’t far away from Dhaka. The spot is:

Reverie Holiday Resort, Tech Kathora, Salna in Gazipur.

The Bus trip was amazing and we had lots of fun throughout the day. The Resort is located in a green space with lots of trees, playground, garden, a nice pond and a rooftop for BBQ in the night. Boat trip for 2 persons would be an amazing effort if you are brave enough taking your wife on it. hmmm i didn’t dare though they have plenty of life saving facilities. Take a look the pictures i took. Ohh yes the food was good to me. Though they should have buffet rather than fixed menu. Overall, my review is satisfactory.
